Iphone iDisk not opening files

I have read most of the posts and am still unable to solve my problem. I have downloaded the iDisk application for my iPhone 3GS and I have only 4 items in my documents folder. Of those 4 items, 3 are Word files and 1 is an Excel document. I am able to view the Excel document on my iPhone but cannot view the 3 Word files. It states "this file is unsupported. You can't view this file on your iPhone."

I have uninstalled the app and reinstalled it....shut off the phone and restarted it....and changed all the files several times to many different types of files (ex: doc, docx, rtf, etc.) All files are under 54KB...so not large at all. I have sent these files from my computer to my spouse's iPhone and they are able to open them fine. They also all open on my iDisk on my computer...just not on the iPhone. Any suggestions would greatly be appreciated. Thanks!

A long time ago, there as a poster who had a similar problem with files that claimed to be .doc files, but they were created in Google Docs and allegedly saved as a Word compatible format.

is it possible the the files are not actually created and saved using Microsoft Word and that they are incomplete/faulty in some way ?

Unfortunately all files were created in Word on this Mac. So...not sure what to do. Thanks for the help!

Also, my spouse is able to open them on their iPhone as well...so not sure what the problem is. I would have thought they would be unable to open on both phones...but not the case.

Thats very curious and as you probably guessed, completely illogical. This sounds a bit Windows-y but have you tried removing the files from iDisk, rebooting the phone from cold by holding down the two buttons until the device powers off,rebooting, putting the files back and then re-opening them ? the only thing I could think of is that there's something in cache which is fouling things up.

It is completely illogical. Anyway...tried what you suggested and no luck. Also quickly typed a Word doc and saved it to iDisk and no luck either. Weird and frustrating! Thanks again for your suggestions!

Just wanted to update you on the info I found out. I took my phone in to a Apple specialist and she was able to view the info on my phone sending it through her laptop. So we figured out that it has something to do with my Word program on my Mac. I tried updating the Word program on my laptop, but that still didn't seem to fix it...so not sure what I need to do now as I don't have my install disk with me on my travels. Just wanted to let you know...thanks!
