I don't have a Genius icon in the iPad's App Store. I have a Genius section on my iPhone's App Store. How do I get the Genius section in my iPad's App Store?
That is interesting. Apple's website shows images and describes the Genius section in the iPad App Store. It doesn't seem like Apple to display and describe something that isn't available yet. I guess it is possible. I was surprised when I couldn't find anyone talking about the missing Genius icon online.
Does anyone see the Genius icon in the iPad's App Store?
Same here! no Genius icon in app store. By the way apple site have 2 different images with app store and ipad one WITH Genius icon and one WITHOUT.
http://www.apple.com/ipad/features/app-store.html But still there is a whole paragraph on Genius section in app store. Do we miss something?
I don't use the genius feature ever for music or apps, but I seem to recall that you need to turn it on in iTunes on your Mac first before it's available on an iPhone (or an iPad). I'm probably wrong, but worht looking into.
You do need to activate Genius in iTunes before Genius playlists for music will appear. But that doesn't seem to have any effect on the App Store app. I have Genius activated in iTunes from which I sync my iPad, but there still is no Genius icon I can find in the App Store app.
While you are correct in pointing out that there is a genius button in iTunes for iPad, that is not what the op has a question about. Many people, myself included who have used and loved the App Store Genius feature to find apps that we would be interested in are missing it in the iPad, currently it seems that the feature is missing. The screenshot shows it on apples website that was linked but after days of scouring the web / forums and my iPad it just isn't there. My experience with the iTunes genius finds music that you would be interested in, and the App store Genius finds apps that you might be interested in. PLEASE APPLE GET ME MY iPAD APP STORE GENIUS.
I just got off the phone with the Apple Support enginer, because I was having the same issue. It appears that even though the app store application allows you to turn on the genius settings on the iPad, the iPad is not yet up to recognize genius recommendations.
It is not clear whether this is an OS issue, or an app issue, but currently, the app is not capable of showing genius recommendations.
Yes Genius exists and works. While in App Store, select your account tab at bottom of page, sign in and you will have selection to turn on genius for apps. Then you get a great page with Genius recommendations and at the top a toggle for updates to current apps, both free and priced updates. HOWEVER, after I used this and quit App Store, I can't find a way to get back to the Genius page. No button for Genius appears anywhere.
I discovered exactly the same thing. The only way to retrieve the Genius recs is to turn them off in Settings, then turn them on again, then open App Store again. The first page to come up is the Genius rec page.
Even that doesn't work for me. I go to settings -> store -> view account -> turn on genius for apps, agree to the terms, then it takes me to the app store where there's a big button that says "turn on genius for apps," I press it, and nothing happens. Am I doing something wrong?
