Mac Mini sleep issue

Mac Mini sleep issue

New mac mini here. When my mini goes to sleep by itself and when I awake it the the internet safari hangs. I either have to reboot or put it to sleep and awake it again. Im using wireless and have an external hard drive connected.

2009 Mac Mini, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Happened to me too, since using Snow Leopard. I tried to eliminate many suspected causes, but came to the conclusion, like you, it's Safari. I started using Firefox as an alternative, and the crash-on-wake-from-sleep problem has gone away.

Ive tried firefox and chrome and still the same thing happens. I have to restart or put it asleep again and awake it.

you might want to try Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM.

Ok I just did that and also reseted the SMC. I will report back with more info

Still not working. I have to restart or manually put the mini to sleep and the awake it. Im new to Mac so is reseting the SMC the same as resetting the PMU?

If you have an Intel Mini, be sure you reset the SMC -- the procedure is different from resetting PMU on a non-Intel Mac.

Performing the PMU procedure on an Intel Mini may cause permanent damage.

I did the SMC already. Didn't know if i needed to do a PMU because im new to Mac. I did however eject my external hard drive and then let the mini go to sleep on its own. I woke it up and internet works perfect now. So its my seagate free agent ext hard drive 1.5tb. It was formatted to nfts and recently formatted to Mac os journaled. I need my external plugin usb because my itunes and movies are on there. Is it not compatible with mac. Or does it have something to do with Mac putting the drive to sleep and how does that affect the internet hanging??????
