Song from CD sounds funny skips/pops

I took a song from my itunes which originally came from a CD into FCE. it kind of sort of skips or pops in places (same places). Not really a pop per se, more of a skip. Hard to describe, but it doesn't sound right. Is there something i need to do to the file before dragging it into the timeline? It's rendered of course. Should i purchase it from I tunes first? or perhaps drag directly from the CD first by passing itunes. All suggestions appreciated.
