Added memory pc2-5300 shows up as pc2-3200

I have an imac g5 with isight that I just recently received. It works great for me, but I wanted to up the memory to the max. Crucial’s website scanner said I needed a 2gb ddr2 pc2-5300 memory stick which I ended up ordering from them since they said it was backwards compatible to the pc2-4200. I installed the memory tonight and the imac shows the added 2gb of ram but it is showing it as pc2-3200. I’ve emailed Crucial and am waiting to hear back from them but I wanted to see what you guys think. Thanks

I ended up calling Crucial Technical Support and the guy said that I had bought the correct memory and that it was a “reporting issue” and not a “physical issue” with the imac . Apparently any PC2-5300 memory that is installed in my imac would show up reporting as PC2-3200 and not PC2-4200 but that it would be running at the correct speed. He said that Apple was not rushing to fix this “reporting issue”. I think that other people must have reported this issue to Crucial before because the tech guy knew exactly what I was talking about. They don’t sell the PC2-4200 memory any more at Crucial.
