I had same problem but I found perfect solution. I took hammer and hit hard to the middle of the screen of my old iPad. All photos deleted. Same with the contacts! I tried to delete all contacts but could not do it without third party app! Terrible! Finally I purchesed Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and I am the happy man now!

I do not recommend that for anybody but it worked for me. Still have my MacBook pro and I love it but I never go back to iPad.

I have to agree with you 77US. I love my iPad in many ways, but I sit with tablet envy when I watch my Dad do things on his Samsung Tablet that I only dream of doing. I have over 500 photos on my iPad that I need to delete one at a time.

APPLE - If you are watching these threads it's about time you get your head out of your *** and look at what your customers want. I am getting so sick of your proprietary dictatorship. I may only be one small customer, but I see a trend developing here and we are starting to realize that you are not all that and a bag of chips!

I am waiting to see what changes (if any) are going to be made in the new OS coming this fall. I am not holding my breath though. Something tells me that my next phone and tablet will both be Android.

Like the majority of people who have logged onto this thread, I've been frustrated with Apple's nanny policy of telling us how we should do things, obviously we are not seen to be bright enough to use these devices for work or business, but should only use they as gaming devices.

I agree with all the users who say they want the ability to delete albums or photos synched from their Picture folder on PC/Mac. And for those who haven't read the thread, YES we know that you can delete from the "Camera Roll" or "Albums" created on the iPad/iTouch/iPhone. BUT we want the ability to move photos not just copy them and ideally WITHOUT having to link to iTunes. some of us travel and only carry our devices with us and DO NOT want to carry servers/desktop or other large/bulky devices to do what we feel is a simple task.

If every frustrated member goes to the help/feedback site on the website and asks for support one of two things will happen, either the site will crash or the powers that be at Apple MIGHT actually take notice

Of course once you send them your feedback they reply on the page by saying that you won't actually receive any reply unless they need clarification!

For all of those who agree with this sentiment, thank you all for allowing me to rant on this thread. For everyone else I'm sorry, but not very!

I, too, searched for an answer but it does not appear there is one way that always works. I then just started deleting photos one at a time. It took me about an hour to delete 1,200 photos. I figured I spent at least 30 minutes looking for an answer so I just decided to bite the bullet and delete them one by one. They are deleted and I don't have to spend any more time looking. It was a solution for me.

No, you are right on. If you visually see a picture..something is there right? It seems it should be quite straightfoward and it's not. Apparently the iPhoto team must have some strong political connections or they would have long ago been disappeared. If the iPhone were as cryptic and cancerous as iPhoto, NO ONE would be using an iPhone. Why can't anyone at Apple take charge of this destructive division at Apple? I can't believe there is SO much tolerance for this horrible invasive unintuitive piece of cancerware.

I don't think anyone is listening. This is how I got into trouble I think with my photos. I had isolated and ignored iPhoto as much as possible...never opening the sh&* because it would take over and do things without my consent. I had been using an app on my macbook called preview to at least delete photos but things changed with ios7 and preview seemed unable to operate in the transparent manner it had before.

I recently took a trip overseas and wanted to show family photos as they had requested next time I visit. The only way to get photos onto the iPad that I was aware of would have been to put them into a USB app and then transfer them to the cameria roll. Lots of pictures and decided I'd give the iPhoto iPad app a chance again after years of avoiding it. It's like a bad relationship, forgetting why the split occured and later giving it a chance again.

I imported photos from a CD that were in individual folders into the laptop iPhoto app. That seemed to go fairly well though it had duplicated one folder for some unknown reason. Then I imported photos from my hardrive and that went fairly well also. At this stage however I don't understand why iPhoto had anything to do with the camera roll but it invaded it. There were photos I wanted to transfer to my laptop but preview no longer recognized them. It seemed e-mailing them or texting them was going to be the only way. I read a suggestion online to sync with iphoto via itunes..well, that just wiped out the pictures on the ipad...they are gone.

Now, I have directories I created that are empty, photos are where I didn't want them, iPhoto on the Mac doesn't match the iPad when they sync. The iPad has duplicate directories and I can't delete them. This is unreal. When one considers all the things this corporation does well, it's unbelievable there is this disconnect with one of the most intimate and critical aspects of using these devices. It gives me a long pause as to if I really would consider a long term use of this companies products where pictures are just something that shoudn't be jacked with.

Oh, the laptop iPhoto app has the pictures in it and when I bring one up full size, it is blocked by a banner stating iPhoto cannot find the original folder, choose cancel, the pictures disappear, choose try again and I suppose the CD needs to be inserted although there are clearly full sized pictures on the hardrive...seriously folks...this is unbelievably horrible.

I joined this discussion about 6 months ago as a new iPad user. Since then I have learnt that the iPad is simply an expensive toy which is great for watching downloaded BBC television programmes (yup, I, like the BBC, am British), very good for listening to music (through iTunes obviously!) and excellent for looking at photos as long as you have a Windoze PC for managing them. Not so good for watching industry-standard Flash videos of course, but why should a little thing like that stand in the way of massive worldwide revenue....

As many people have said, "I use my iPad for _____". You can fill in the blank but don't use the word 'and' too many times. Even Windoze PC's are general purpose computers - you use them for (almost) anything! And with a multi-core processor, several things at the same time...

So now, I'm chilled. iPad is a very pretty box full of batteries with an excellent display but limited functionality. Love it or hit it with a hammer!

p.s. Treat the iPad like one of those old digital photo frames - organise your pictures on a Windoze PC, put them in separate folders and then drop them on to the iPad using something like the Wireless Transfer App. But be careful to create the iPad 'Albums' in the App - they appear on your portable toy in the order they were created, not the more useful alphabetic one most non-Apple humans are used to...

Umm.. Welcome to the club? Thats what this thread is about. There is no way to do this without jumping through hoops and dealing with iTunes and resetting all of your pictures/albums. My advice: Return your iPad if you recently bought it and get an Android Tablet. My iPad is now my 6 year olds because I cant get over the myriad of restrictions put in place by Apple. Switched to a Nexus 10 and never been happier.

I too am having the same problem!

I have been using Mac's since the first Floppy Drive version and the Apple Lisa Computer. I have owned 2 Mac SE's, an SE 30 and 2 Mac II's. They were all very intuitive and I still use File Maker Pro and Claris Works on my Microsoft Computer. I have great Problem's understanding iTunes in every function. I have very little interest in Music or books which is apparently the main purpose of iTunes.

I have now an iPad 2, iPhone 4S, Windows 7 Computer and my wife has an iPad mini Retina, an iPad Mini and iphone 4S. Much of the intuitive programming is gone. Why APPLE has made such a big change, I do not know. Why you cannot just delete a picture is not understandable after reading many additional postings.

I have tried other Apps that also have their own problems.

I too keep most of my pictures on my Windows Computer but would like to sort them and cull them on my iPad when I have nothing else to do.

Maybe APPLE will see these many posts and understand that people want an intuitive way to do things and change some of their many restrictions and upgrade their software, both iTunes and the IOS to comply with peoples needs.

This is very frustrating that I can't delete photos from my iPad. Why on earth can't I just select a photo then trash it?

Echoing the previous poster, I've been a Mac user for a long time, since my Performa about 1997. Everything has always been intuitive but I don't find this iTunes/iPad interface particularly easy to use, and this issue with not being able to delete photos is hopeless. I'd have thought it was one of the basic functions that would be problem-free.

When I select some photos, there does seem like an option to delete, but not most of them. I've absolutely no idea why that is and I'm past caring. Just make it easy, Apple, it can't be the hardest thing in the world to do.
