Password Protect Pages Document with iPAD

How can you create a Pages Document in Ipad and password protect it? OR How can you edit an already password protected document created on laptop with IPAD Pages and keep the password protection?

Pages on iPad currently can't read password protected Pages documents, nor save them.

I'm disappointed to be unable to password-protect my documents in Pages for iPad. That is a significant shortcoming. I hope Apple will correct this.

It took the desktop version of Pages until version 4/iWork '09 to get this ability. I suggest you leave feedback for the iPad Pages team.

iPad Pages can read password protected documents - I use this feature every day. I do not know if you can create a pass protected doc on iPad though.

That is what I am looking to do. Right now I do not have an apple desktop or laptop. I'm relatively new to apple products but I own an iPhone a the new iPad. I have my iPad with me all day and love it. I create lots of docs with Pages and some I would like to password protect. That - to me - is a HUGE shortcoming. It almost sound down right crazy that feature is not in this product. It's a potable device and can easily be picked up by other people. Not to have that feature is just poor.

Pages for ios7 can now add password protection. It is under the monkey wrench symbol. I can't guarantee how secure it is, however. It does use AES.
