Verizon E-mail notice

I use the e-mail that comes with the computer. I have Verizon Fios also. I received the following notice from Verizon....
" Verizon online to combat spam if you use a non-Verizon account like MacMail, Outlook, Thunderbird etc.
Change the "Server Port 25" setting to "Server Port 587". I looked for this but can't find the Server Ports, does anyone know where I can find them. I'm not even sure that I use Mac Mail as my e-mail address is bc121@verizon.net. Thanks

i Mac 20', Mac OS X (10.6.3), U.S. Navy Seabees "Can Do"

You shouldn't need to do anything. Mail already knows what the default ports are. It has 25, 465 and 587 as those defaults.
You could I suppose choose the custom option and insert 587 in there on its own.

Look through;
Mail>Preferences>Accounts>Outgoing Mail Server, Edit SMTP server List>Advanced
