I'm having the same problem, im in garageband 3, using a technics sx p 50 digital piano connected to my computer using an m-audio midi usb cable. GB recognizes it as a midi input and the little light shows up, but no sound or registering of notes! Could there be some sort of driver I'm missing? I thought macs were all about ease of peripheral connectivity!

I'm having a similar problem. My mac recognizes the keyboard, but it will only play software instruments, not the sound my piano ( a technics, too,) is generating. It seems that garageband will not record directly. Is this true? Would Logic Express, or pro, or whatever, record directly, without having to use the software sounds? (I don't like them, anyway.)
