iPad Stand Does Not Charge Through?

All,

Hi, I just picked up an apple stand today, and I'm finding it does not charge the iPad when connected? I'm using the charger provided by the iPad - not trying to charge through the computer. When I take the stand out-of-the-mix, the iPad charges. Is this the design, or am I doing something wrong?

Please disregard as I have fixed my own problem. I'll respond to my own post for reference for others. I've got two different generations of iPod touch devices and it appears that even though they look exactly the same, they do not push power through the same way. I noticed when I plugged my original iPod touch into my MBP, I got a power warning message. I put two and two together and swapped cables. The cable that came with my iPad does properly charge through the stand.

would be interesting to know if you leave it in sleep mode for an hour or so does the percent charge go up.
