Hi,

But, I can't find idvd or garage band in the mac.
When I purchased it, the store did tell me that

Both applications should be in your Application folder. Look again carefully, if the machine is new they will be there. You can always arrange your apps alphabetically by clicking the Applications folder, the click View-Arrange By-Name. Also look on the dock, unless you removed them from the dock they should also be there on a new Mac.

As Elmac stated you can also use Spotlight to locate them. How you do this is Command-Spacebar then type the name of the application such as idvd.app and it should show up.

In the extremely unusual event your computer does not have these loaded here is an article that explains how to reload missing applications.

If you don't have a Time Machine backup then using Pacifist should solve your problem.

Roger

iDVD and Garageband are part of iLife (so are iMovie, iWeb, and iPhoto) and if you cannot find any of those in your Applications folder (I wouldn't put 100% trust into Spotlight), it could be that they are on a separate disk? All my computers have had a separate iLife disk because those apps are not part of the OS as such. You might want to look through your box and if you can't find it, I'd call Apple and explain the situation.
