Multiple song mixes

Is there a way to have multiple/alternative mixes of the same song with different settings, plugs, etc, that you can switch between in Logic Pro 9?

I just went through the Mixing section in the manual but I did not see how that could be done.

The only way I can do that now is with a new project per mix.
