Hi, everyone.

I'm an iPad newbie here. Just got one yesterday and was playing with it the whole night last night. Everything is nice except for the problem that the Calendar app won't let me edit any event in the calendar. My ipad Calendar is synced with my Google calendar, which is also synced with the iCal on my Macbook. For some reason, no matter how or where i tap on the pop-up bubble of any event on the iPad, I just can't edit anything as if the edit function does not exist. Yet I have no problem editing events on my Macbook. Am I missing something? Please help. Thanks in advance.

2.2GHz Macbook Pro Core 2 Duo, 4Gb RAM, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

When you open an event that you created, the window that opens is the edit window. You should be able to change any of the data and then click done. I just verified on multiple calendars.

That's exactly what I did. It's just that no matter how or where I tap in that window i just can't edit anything. There's no edit button available, either.

Are you trying to edit an event in a subscribed calendar? Editing an event will only work in a calendar that is created on the iPad (or iPhone) or synced directly to the device.

Hi, Dr. GPCR. What do you mean by a subscribed calendar? The one I was just trying to edit is my personal calendar that I created on my Mac and synced back to Google and my iphone and now the iPad.

Can you edit events in this same calendar on your iPhone? If so, then something either got messed up in the sync to your iPad or you have a bug in iCal on your iPad (in which case you should do a restore of the software).

I have multiple calendars, some are calendars that I create/own, others are subscribed to (my wife's calendar published to MobileMe). You can't edit events in a subscribed calendar.

    Hope this helps!

Yes. I can edit events on both my iPhone and my Macbook, just not on the iPad. Maybe I just need to do a restore for the iPad like you said. Thanks.

I also created a calendar on google with my Macbook Pro that I sync with my computer thru Ical. My wife's and daughter's and my computer use ICAL to sync with google calendar and we can all edit that calendar from our computers. I can sync my Ipad with the google calendar, but I can not edit the google calendar with ICal on my Ipad.

Ical calendars on my Macbook sync fine with Ical on my Ipad using Itunes.

This is exactly the same problem for me too. Tried restore but the problem persists. In the Google calendar (on my ipad), I can only edit the events I created on the iPad but those created from my iPhone or Macbook. This is really annoying.

I had the same problem, I noticed that I could not edit things in my calendar on my iPad and iPhone. I had set up so my iCalendar on my Mac Book was syncing with Google Calendar. So whenever I synced my iPad/iPhone it would get updated, but it wouldn't let me edit it whenever I just had my iPad.

The solution I figured out was I need to set up my iPhone/iPad to sync directly with Google Calendar, instead of syncing with iCalendar with iTunes.

You need to go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Microsoft Exchange > in E-Mail type in your Google E-Mail, leave Domain empty, in user name type in Google E-Mail again, then type in your Google Password, and then give it a description > Then click next > Another field is going to come up for the server, type in m.google.com > Then click on save > In which it will ask what you what synced, either Mail, Contacts, or Calendar, you can choose or three or whatever the case. If you want to keep your contacts or mail or calendar on your device, be sure when it says if you want to delete it, you click on "Keep on iPhone" or "Keep on iPad".

If you have a iPad w/o 3G, then it should sync every time you're in WI-FI area, if you have 3G, or iPhone with 3G, I believe it syncs every time you make a change.

I followed your instructions but it does not seem to work. I still cannot edit any event that was not created on the ipad. Any ideas great fully received.

I found some events could not be edited and some events could be. I solved the problem this way: I went to the Calendars button, upper left corner of the iCal window. A window appears called Show Calendars. I scrolled down. I found that there were two sets of calendars. The first one titled From My Mac and the Second one headed with my MobileMe address. Both sets of calendars had lists of calendars within the two general calendars (My Mac and MobileMe).

I saw that there was a check mark next to one of the calendars in BOTH sets. I removed the check mark from the From My Mac calendar.

This removed the errant entry(ies) in the iPad calendar. All the remaining events are editable.

This solved the same problem for me.

Before syncing my iPhone with my macbook pro i unchecked my calender which is hosted by google and removed it from my iPhone.

On my iphone i went to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calenders -> Under Accounts, Add Account -> Other.

Enter your credentials to your google account and set the server to www.google.com

Calender now syncs directly with google and you can also edit it from you iPhone/iPad.

We had exactly this problem, but solved it via another route as the tips suggested here did not work for us. Basically instead of adding your Google calendar etc. via a GMail account, use an Exchange account instead. Google has comprehensive instructions here:

    Hope this helps someone else.
