Can't edit events in Calendar

Hi, everyone.

I'm an iPad newbie here. Just got one yesterday and was playing with it the whole night last night. Everything is nice except for the problem that the Calendar app won't let me edit any event in the calendar. My ipad Calendar is synced with my Google calendar, which is also synced with the iCal on my Macbook. For some reason, no matter how or where i tap on the pop-up bubble of any event on the iPad, I just can't edit anything as if the edit function does not exist. Yet I have no problem editing events on my Macbook. Am I missing something? Please help. Thanks in advance.

Can you edit events in this same calendar on your iPhone? If so, then something either got messed up in the sync to your iPad or you have a bug in iCal on your iPad (in which case you should do a restore of the software).

I have multiple calendars, some are calendars that I create/own, others are subscribed to (my wife's calendar published to MobileMe). You can't edit events in a subscribed calendar.

Hope this helps!

I also created a calendar on google with my Macbook Pro that I sync with my computer thru Ical. My wife's and daughter's and my computer use ICAL to sync with google calendar and we can all edit that calendar from our computers. I can sync my Ipad with the google calendar, but I can not edit the google calendar with ICal on my Ipad.

Ical calendars on my Macbook sync fine with Ical on my Ipad using Itunes.

I had the same problem, I noticed that I could not edit things in my calendar on my iPad and iPhone. I had set up so my iCalendar on my Mac Book was syncing with Google Calendar. So whenever I synced my iPad/iPhone it would get updated, but it wouldn't let me edit it whenever I just had my iPad.

The solution I figured out was I need to set up my iPhone/iPad to sync directly with Google Calendar, instead of syncing with iCalendar with iTunes.

You need to go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > Microsoft Exchange > in E-Mail type in your Google E-Mail, leave Domain empty, in user name type in Google E-Mail again, then type in your Google Password, and then give it a description > Then click next > Another field is going to come up for the server, type in m.google.com > Then click on save > In which it will ask what you what synced, either Mail, Contacts, or Calendar, you can choose or three or whatever the case. If you want to keep your contacts or mail or calendar on your device, be sure when it says if you want to delete it, you click on "Keep on iPhone" or "Keep on iPad".

If you have a iPad w/o 3G, then it should sync every time you're in WI-FI area, if you have 3G, or iPhone with 3G, I believe it syncs every time you make a change.

I found some events could not be edited and some events could be. I solved the problem this way: I went to the Calendars button, upper left corner of the iCal window. A window appears called Show Calendars. I scrolled down. I found that there were two sets of calendars. The first one titled From My Mac and the Second one headed with my MobileMe address. Both sets of calendars had lists of calendars within the two general calendars (My Mac and MobileMe).

I saw that there was a check mark next to one of the calendars in BOTH sets. I removed the check mark from the From My Mac calendar.

This removed the errant entry(ies) in the iPad calendar. All the remaining events are editable.

This solved the same problem for me.

Before syncing my iPhone with my macbook pro i unchecked my calender which is hosted by google and removed it from my iPhone.

On my iphone i went to Settings -> Mail, Contacts, Calenders -> Under Accounts, Add Account -> Other.

Enter your credentials to your google account and set the server to www.google.com

Calender now syncs directly with google and you can also edit it from you iPhone/iPad.
