Exporting slideshow fails with osstatus error -9459

Hi,

When trying to export a slideshow with iPhoto 09 after quite some time I receive osstatus error -9459.
Also when I try to send the slideshow to iDVD it states that I need to free additional space on my hard drive, although I got 31 GB free space...

Any input is greatly appreciated,

Thanks,
hm

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try this:

1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - backup and launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed to rebuild the library. Select the last three options.

Launch iPhoto and try again.

Also you might try exporting the slideshow to the Desktop

and then add it directly to iDVD. If you add the resulting QT file to an iDVD slideshow rather than dragging it onto the menu you can have it scaled to the TV safe area like you can with still photos slideshows.

Actually, while reading other posts/threads, etc., after my posting, I saw the following; error(?) while exporting slideshow Pages : [ 1 2 ]. There, I read that a London user changed his sysprefs>energy> to never sleep for monitor and cpu. After that his problem was solved. I did the same thing and guess what, problem fixed! I've already synced with my AppleTV and viewed it. Thanks much for you suggestions.

That's strange and good to know at the same time. What were the sleep settings for your monitor and cpu?

That could mean that the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file was damaged. If you have time at some point, move that file from your User/Library/Preferences folder to the Desktop, reset your Energy sleep preferences to what you had and see if you can export. If not then replace the com.apple.systempreferences.plist file with the one from the desktop. If you can then you can go thru the all the system preferences and set them to what you want.

I've been getting the same OSStatus error -9459. Rebuilding the iPhoto library didn't help me, neither did setting the sleep time to Never in Energy Saver.

What did work was setting the DISPLAY sleep time to never! I consistently found that if I turned off the display by using a hot corner or if the display timed out through the Energy Saver setting, the slidshow export failed. Didn't matter if the slideshow was on its way to iDVD or the desktop.

I also received "*OSstatus error -9459*" when exporting a slideshow from iPhoto.

The suggestions from vinofreak and from Ferk solved this problem on my iMac.

My habit WAS to use a hot-corner to sleep the DISPLAY during lengthy processing jobs. However, when I set the engery saver to never sleep CPU and never sleep Display (leaving the screen saver to save the screen), the slideshow export worked fine and successfully exported a m4v movie file to the default user/Pictures/"iPhoto Slideshows" folder.

I don't understand why this works and wish I did, but I am thankful for the others who posted replies for this topic. --- _It solved the problem for me_.

I too received the exact same error. I followed the steps in setting all energy and screen saver settings to NEVER to resolve this issue.

What's curious to me is all of the responses suggesting reloading software, deleting preference files, etc. etc. Maybe one has to do this sometimes, but it seems the first response should involve the timed settings.

Good luck!
