Installing a flat-bed scanner

How does one install a flat-bed scanner on MBP? I saw my HP Scanjet 4370's icon under System Preferences but it indicated that the scanner wasn't connected (which would explain why it didn't seem to be working via my MBP). I then deleted the aforementioned icon, and now realize I don't know how to install it.

Hi Gerald,

Did you receive an install disc with your scanner? If so, you must install this before connecting the scanner to your Mac for the first time. Once the software has been installed, your Mac should then recognise the scanner once it is connected & powered on.

If needs be, you should be able to download the software needed to run it from HP's website.

Good luck.

I have a HB 4380 that I really haven't tried with OS X. However, I'm also running a iMac 21.5" (new model) with Bootcamp and Windows 7 and the scanner works fine.

I've never been able to connect to the 4380 with wifi from my MB. However, IF I hook it up with a USB cable, it seems to work fine.
