Posting on forums with iPad

Sorry, I've had no issues at all. I post on a number of sites.

There have been a few forums that I can't post on because the keyboard does not pop up. Most of the times I can. It probably has to do with incompatibility with those web sites and the ipad

I've had this problem on some forums. Hopefully this problem will slowly be resolved as web sites are optimized for the iPad.

I tried posting on my classroom forum and the keyboard did not pop up to allow me to type into the conversation box...just like your problem. I tried it with my keyboard dock and had the same problem. I want this for both school and play so hope an answer will come up. 🙂

It might be worth trying a different browser, like iCab.

I asked one site that wasn't letting my iPad or iPhone post, & the answer they gave was that they use Java. Apparently Java doesn't work on the iPhone OS. Over time, these sites will have to change or die.

You ought to let the IT department at your school know there is an issue so they can look into it.

I tried it on both Safari and iCab on the iPad and neither allows you to post to the forum section on eCollege, I'm starting to think it's something with the OS because you can't post on either the iPhone 4 or the iPad. Apple needs to seriously look into this as a large population of iPad users are students and this would be a major setback for them if they couldn't do their schoolwork.

I have the same issue with a forum I frequent. It was working fine until they updated their forum software a few days ago. Now Safari crashes when I add a reply, or it doesn't bring up the keyboard (as other here have mentioned).

It's clearly an iPad issue as I can post there just fine with all of the three browsers I use on my desktop PC. The solution can't be that web developers have to bend over backwards to be iPad compatible (as someone suggested). When IE, Chrome and Firefox handle it fine, then I think the iPad should be able to handle it as well. We are talking about something as simple as writing some text in a forum.

Still hoping someone will recognize the importance of being able to use the iPad for eCollege. I am unable to post in the classroom forum with my iPad. The iPad allows me into the class, I can use it to read, use spellcheck, but I cannot post. I called eCollege Tech Support and was told the obvious; eCollege is not supporting mobile devices right now. However, I was told eCollege is going to support mobile devices in the future, starting with iphones and then moving on to iPads. I called the University to ask what the expected time/date of this software integration might be and I was told "students are already using iPads to post, and this is the first we've heard about it." I asked for what the get-around software might be and that question drew a blank. For the sake of higher education, how hard can it be to connect the dots here? Is there anyone out there with an answer to this problem?

I don't have problems posting, BUT I sure wish Apple would add left and right arrow keys to its onscreen keyboard in upcoming OS update. Even though the keyboard is much more useable than on iPhone/iPod, it is still very frustrating to accurately position the cursor when needing to edit text.
