Does Time Machine automatically download updates?

I'm trying to track down some download leakage from home. I was wondering if Time machine automatically downloads updates. I have had 2 unaccountable downloads of around 400Mb in the last 2 months and on a pathetic 3G plan this causes problems.

Time Machine doesn't download anything. It's not a web application. It copies files from your primary hard drive to your secondary drive.

I guess a better question then is "Does the Time Capsule automatically download and update its firmware"?
