The folder "iTunes" is on a locked disk or you do not have write permission
I have been searching for an answer for ages to this question. Out of the blue my itunes decided to display this error message *"The folder "iTunes" is on a locked disk or you do not have write permissions for this folder."* and everything i see on other fourums i have tried and still no luck so i have decided to write on apple support to see if this helps. I have windows 7 64-bit Home Premium please help i love my itunes.
Found the answer that worked for me on a Microsoft forum. Pasting it below:
open your itunes folder usually in C:\user\[your user name]\music\itunes select all items and select share with homegroup read/write you must do this for all the files in iTunes folder as well as the iTunes folder itself
Select the iTunes folder, and then what?
What exactly is the path of the tasks after that?
When, in the message above, it says, select share with homegroup read/write, I get lost. Select it from where?
Since the original poster is using Windows and you are using Mac OS, it won't be the same.
In a Finder window, right click - Get info on the iTunes folder.
Scroll down to *Sharing & Permissions*.
Make sure you have *Read & Write* permissions.
Click on the gear icon and select *Apply to enclosed items*.
I'm having this same problem. I tried to share the folder and that didn't seem to help. When I click on Properties for my iTunes folder, it says it is Read-Only. I uncheck that and let it apply to all the items in the iTunes folder. When I click on Properties again on iTunes, it shows that it is Read-Only again. Any idea on how to fix this? This is very frustrating not being able to load iTunes...
