How to delete a single page, please? (iWork/Pages '05v.)

It should be so simple, but it doesn't come up in the manual or in the discussion forum.

I just want to delete one page (p. 8 in a 26 p. document) I removed all the objects and text - went to Delete Pages, and it says I'll be deleting pp. 1-14

It seems so absurd - there should be a very simple way to do this!

thanks

I gather you are using Pages document in Word Processing mode? You have two way to do it
1. select the content on the page and delete. The document will adjust the pages.
2. Insert a section break just before and one just after the section you want to delete. In Thumbnail view you can select that page, getting a yellow border. Delete.

I''m sorry, nothing you suggest is working for me. I tried both. Yes, I believe I am in word processing..I am using the 'blank' page format.

1. I deleted everything on the page, but the document didn't adjust. I also tried deleting the page numbers at the foot, but it doesn't help.

2. I tried inserting section breaks on the previous and following pages to the one I want to delete. No yellow boarder, no delete.

Any other ideas...(help!)- - -anyone? Thanks so much, my deadline for this is tomorrow!

The only other way I can think of doing this is labor intensive: to group all the text and shapes on every page and then move them all up - but then I'm still left with a blank page at the end. This is for a PDF presentation, and I'm trying to make it as professional looking as possible. I remember "Peggy" on this forum had a really simple solution, but I can't find mention of it in the Search engine..

Keith,

Turn on Show Invisibles so you can see what content may be residing on the second page.

Also go to the Wrap Inspector and note the Object Causes Wrap checkbox. There may be an object in your document that is pushing something, even something invisible, to the next page. Click on any graphics, shapes, tables, text boxes, etc. to see what properties they have.

Jerrold,

I'm trying that. Show Invisibles shows a solid blue bar with a section break symbol at the end of it, on the right. I'm not sure what I did next, but a text box appeared, and when I deleted it, another blank page was added. I had to undo back to where I just have that one page 8 to eliminate.

When going to Wrap Inspector, it was greyed out - so I don't believe page numbers or section break can be objects?

*Update: Stop press:* I clicked above the section break at the top, and deleted. The page then was eliminated, and page 9 became page 8, with the material on it. In other words, whatever worked, worked...still something of a mystery, but I've learned a little about the power of the section break now. Star goes to you and our colleague in Sweden, I guess, but it did take some fooling around - wasn't a cut and dried solution.

Again, why doesn't the Pages Help offer an answer to what must be a common issue? Otherwise, Pages is a great app.
