Can the default Terminal.app auto-copy highlighted/selected text? If so, how do I configure that option? If Terminal.app lacks that capability, is there an easy way to select, copy, and paste using the MacBook Pro multi-touch trackpad? I know I can download/install the iTerm app, but was hoping to stick with the Terminal.app that comes with system.

There's no way to auto-copy anything you select (thank goodness, that sounds like an amazingly annoying "feature"). However, you can copy with nothing more than the trackpad... see the Secondary Click option in System Preferences -> Trackpad. Basically, you just click on the selected text with two fingers on the trackpad and a contextual menu, containing a "Copy" item, pops up. Of course, hitting command-c is a lot quicker...

You can also Select the text you want, and then "Click-And-Drag" the selected text. This will paste the text into the Terminal.
