Apps - how to cancel updates in iTunes when already up-to-date on iTouch.

Being a lazy type and, because Apple kindly inform me through my App icon on my iTouch, I usually update Apps direct to the device. I rarely access iTunes to alter my music library, so I regularly find a pile of App updates listed on the left hand Apps icon that are already done of course.
Is there a simple way to delete this huge list of about 40 updates from iTunes?
I don't want to go through ages of re-downloading them just to tidy up the Apps section when they are already up-to-date on the iTouch!

i think if you sync your device with iTunes it will take care of your problem. that way, you have updated apps in iTunes for when something goes wrong with your Touch.

As Jolly Giant says, just sync your iTouch to iTunes. Not only will it keep your apps listing current but it will also backup your iTouch. That way you'll have everything on your iTouch saved in case you break or lose it.

BTW, iTunes is really an out-of-date name for the application since it now supports not only music but movies, podcasts, books, apps, ringtones, etc. Perhaps Apple should rename it to iMedia.
