Does QuickTime Player Not Like AAC (AC3) Audio?

I converted a DVD to MPEG2 using WinX DVD Ripper and there was no audio during playback in QT Player but no problem in Streamclip.

Suspecting it may be the AAC (AC3) audio, I converted it again but using mp2 audio.

This time it was fine.

So am I correct in thinking that QT Player won't play AAC (AC3) or is there some way of getting it to do it?

It's gotta be something else, Ian. AAC is the default format for the iPhone, iPod, iPad, iTunes, etc. Practically everything in my iTunes library is AAC and it plays fine in the QT Player. Just checked it again - AAC's play in both QT X and QT 7.

AC3 is another matter (it's Dolby) and I don't think QT can play AC3 audio. There are AC3 codecs for QuickTime you can find on the net (but I haven't used them).
