USING AN IOMEGA MINIMAX DESKTOP HARD-DRIVE

I have had a near loss of all date so have gone out and bought an Iomega MiniMax Desktop Hard-Drive 1 TB.

There are no instructions with it except for a quick start-up guide. One site says there should be a CD in the box. However, when I phoned Apple they told me that Iomega no longer put a CD in the box as it is Plug and Play. I would still like to have a manual as this is the first external HD I have ever bought. Just for starters I have got the HD icon up on the desktop. I have dragged the Macintosh HD icon on to the Iomega icon, but it accepted it in a flash. Surely it will take more time than this. Or am I being terminally stupid? Most of all I want all my e-mails to be copied to the Iomega. Help, please

Here is the link to the minimax manuals: https://iomega-na-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bin/iomegana_en.cfg/php/enduser/std_adp.php?pfaqid=14432#minimax

If you got a USB-only connection, that will work, however, you can't boot your Powerbook from it. You can only boot a Powerbook from a Firewire-connected device, and they do make a minimax version that includes a Firewire connection.

One way to transfer data is to get SuperDuper! from http://www.shirt-pocket.com/SuperDuper/SuperDuperDescription.html and use it to copy everything to your new minimax external hard drive. If you buy it, versus using the free version, you can do incremental backups where only new and changed files are copied, versus copying the entire disk each time.

My main reason for buying the 1TB hard drive by Iomega is so that I can keep my entire e-mail file on it in duplicate form. However, I do not think the Iomega is capable of doing this. Could anybody please confirm this. And if it can't, can anybody tell me how I can keep the whole Mail file and add to it from time to time. I do not want to have to make a Word copy of every e-mail I need to keep.
Thank you.
