Disk Image will not Mount/Open
http://macosxhints.com/article.php?story=20031207012226892

Procedure A.....
1. Navigate to and open.../Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
2. Click on "Macintosh HD" in upper left, then press "Repair Permissions" .
3. If that does not solve the problem, navigate to /System/Library and delete...
Extensions.kextcache
Extensions.mkext
4. Navigate to /System/Library/Caches and delete the folder...
com.apple.kernelcaches
5. Restart and see if the problem still exist.
6. If that does not fix the problem, go to ~/Library/Preferences and delete..
Com.apple.LaunchServices.plist
7. Restart and see if the problem still exist.

Procedure B...
1. Navigate to .... /System/Library/CoreServices/DiskImageMounter .app
2. Drag the stubborn .dmg file onto DiskImageMounter .app

Procedure C...
1. Boot off your install CD and run Disk Utility to repair the filesystem.
2. Try to mount a dmg file using the unix hdiutil utility.
Procedure D....
Assuming that the disk image is on your desktop, try these Terminal commands:
hdiutil mount filename.dmg <enter>
where filename.dmg is the name of the disk image.
If there are an spaces in the name, use this form .....
hdiutil mount "file name.dmg" <enter>

Procedure E...
1. Navigate and open .... /Applications/Utilities/Disk Utility
2. If the .dmg file does not appear in the lower left pane, drag that stubborn onto the lower left pane.
3. Select that file ......(Command + Open) ..... The image file will be opened and placed on the desktop... Move that .dmg file to the Trash..So if you wish to add that file to your Archive for later usage, remove it from the Trash.

ProcedureF..
Download the free ....
Mount.app ( http://mount.houchin.us/) software instead of the integral Mac OS X DiskImageMounter program within OS X. The Mount.app software which downloaded instantly then opened the.dmg file in question without hesitation.

From Scott Houchin @ Mount.app:-
"Glad that Mount.app worked for you. However, I would worry that you have something seriously wrong with your system that you should investigate. Mount.app is only a GUI for the command line disk mounting utility that ships as part of the OS, so it can't do anything that the OS shouldn't be able to do."

TY for finfing that. I used that utility at the end.

A failed beacusem it always found the smae errors even after repairing. it looped the samse stuff.
All of the files I was supposed to delete wold not delete saying they could not be deleted.

B drag and drop din;t work.

C The user that has this laptop lost her cd's again. Could try. This cd be also be needed for the above.

D I would use terminal but user would not. Like gui 🙂

E No response from drag and drop

F Worked but, I found another solution for my self. It might fix someone else that has this problem.

The main solution. I went into the dmg file properties using get info and set the open with spot to a dofferent version of the mounter that worked. A lot of people might have this. Pass it around. 🙂

TY again for the other info.
