Hello, I understand this post is back in 2008 but I just got my MBP i7 with win7 32bit and obviously experiencing the same problem. Googling for solutions kept bringing me to this thread so I thought I might post here.

Has anyone manage to do anything regarding the 3B36 and 3B3B drivers? Also am I the only win7/MBP user experiencing dropping internet connection? Initially I thought it might be due to this 2 particular drivers but but further search online have also point to Nvidia. I'm really at lost!

I just got off the phone with an Apple support engineer (best way to get help is to call Sales - she put an engineer on the phone right away).

He couldn't tell me anything except "we release updates very regularly", so it seems to me that they haven't fixed this one yet. Particularly since we're seeing continued posts here.

He did indicate that engineers do troll these forums, and than an engineer will post something when they come up with a fix.

Sounds like "stand by" to me.

Just to weigh in, i'm having problems too, though i'm using an iMac i7 (still though in Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) and having this exact problem. I think you can rule out it being anything to do with 2 USB slots being disabled, since the iMac i7 has four of them, and I couldn't get my Windows side to browse my external HDD using any of them (though it's recognising that it's plugged in). I'm getting the errors with 3B36 and 3B3B, yet only 3B34 and 3B3C appear in the Hardware panel).

Really hope Apple fix this asap.

I have the same problem as most of you, which is driver error prompt AND the most aggravating of all the Windows freeze.
I've read in the earlier post someone suggested that the freezing problem may be cause of the graphics driver. So did it check out?
If I were to consult someone, who am I to Consult this problem to? Microsoft OR Apple

And since so many people have posted on the Apple forum, have there been a reply?
Please help Thank you.

Sadly, the problem still exists after upgrading to the latest EFI. The fact that Apple keeps ignoring it for so long is really starting to tick me off.

However, those of you who have been having problems with VMware not being able to virtualize USB can now rejoice as Workstation 7.1.1 is out and looks like it includes the fix that vesposit has received from their Tech Support. The file is now digitally signed, so those who are running 64-bit Windows do not need to go the F8 route to get it to load.

That being said, I still think that Apple has to fix this from their end as well as VMware is not the only app that was affected by this. Let's keep bombarding them with complaints.

I am new to Mac and need a foot in both Mac and PC worlds, so I definitely am pushing for the last bit of functionality out of Windows 7 on a BootCamp-created partition. I have the same problem all on this topic see: partial functionality of USB ports, including sporadic problems with my HP printer (now it sees it, now not) and worse, inability to run my virtual machines on USB hard drives through VMware Workstation when BootCamped.

WMware (and some HP software and other programs) interrogates the USB ports before allowing use. Since the port enumeration is messed up, USB VMs won't even start, and VMs on BootCamp partition run but have USB ports within the VM disabled. It's nice that VMware folks came up with a workaround for Workstation Version 7, but the problem remains for those with older versions of Workstation (me for example) and for other software.

Since I have VMware Fusion too (for Mac side), I could compare the same Win7 installation running on OS X side and BootCamp side. The OS X VM of Win7 is fine with USBs and has a very different list of USB devices and other "devices" in Device Manager. I see what looks like duplication of devices (many more of them) when BootCamped. This makes sense, because VMware Fusion gives OS X the job of running the hardware, and OS X is correctly interfacing with the Intel chips. What is probably going on is a less-than-perfect imitation of BIOS by the Mac firmware implementation through EFI, so the hardware is imperfectly operated. It could easily mean a firmware fix is needed, not just drivers. The Aug 26 firmware update fixed freezing/display problems, but not this.

I explained all this last week in an email to AppleCare support, including screen captures. I think the comparisons of the Win7 partition running differently in the two environments is pretty good evidence that Apple does need to send us a fix. I haven't heard back from Apple support yet on my long email. We shall see...

Since I notice the "Intel(R)Series/3400 Series Chipset Family USB Universal Host Controller - 3B36" I began seeking for answers, and I have no luck so far.

I went to the apple store, hoping to get some answers from the "Apple Geniuses" aka apple tech. but I was given the feedback that this is not within their responsibility to take care of the windows driver problem.

This chipset problem has something to do with the windows random freeze? and the printing problem?

Is this problem EVER going to be fixed?

1) Good news for those having problems with HP printers: there seems to be a solution for this problem; look here:
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2401742
(I myself had no troubles installing and using my HP 1005, though I do have the problem with the notorious 3B3B and 3B36 drivers.)

2) There are over half-a-dozen of other threads concerning the aforementioned 3B3B / 3B36 driver problem; just search vor 3B3B in all Apple support disucssions. Evidently, there are at least thousands or tens of thousands users affected. Apple's ignorance and attitude towards their customers is really outrageous!

3) I have yet another Windows / Bootcamp problem - can anybody advise me or direct towards the "right" thread? The problem is an extremely slow Windows boot-up - about 2.5 minutes! About half of this time I just see a black blinking cursor page, and my impression (maybe, completely wrong) is that Windows do absolutely nothing during this time, just waiting for something to happen. This blinking cursor page is also shown when Windows are resuming from the hibernate. Any ideas / suggestions?

I also experience the slow Windows boot-up, but it only happens intermittently. Many times, I have observed that it happens after installing some Windows software that requires a reboot. These slowdowns also happen when doing the same on my PC's, but they are not as bad as on MBP.

That aside though, I intermittently have a problem where Windows does not start booting at all. On some occasions, when booting into BootCamp partition or rebooting Windows session, the machine would just sit at a blank screen. If that happens, power-cycling always fixes it and Windows boots just fine. This has never happened with OS X so far.
