Upgrading MBP - MacPro

My MBP is getting old and sluggish and feel i need a ram upgrade etc. Im looking at a Mac Pro.

Can i shift the software over, such as Aperture to the new mac fairly easily?

Mac Book Pro 17" - 2Gb RAM, Mac OS X (10.4.9), Sony Vaio - Canon EOS 5D
