You people act as though it's criminal to expect software to work +as it should+ or point out it's flaws. In case you haven't noticed, all software is flawed. Those flaws have to be discussed and workarounds have to be found...hence these forums. Implying that it's user error or "use something else" doesn't cut it and is a bit childish.

@cybersoga glad it worked for you!

Unfortunately that approach wouldn't work for me, but here's what did...

1) move all apps out of your *Mobile Applications* folder and onto your desktop
2) delete any duplicate apps
3) in *iTunes > Apps* select delete all of the applications
4) go to *File > Add to Library...* and import them back from the desktop

You may have to resync with your ipad/ipod/iphone depending on the state of your *Mobile Applications* folder the last time you synced...

Brian, I couldn't agree with you more. This is supposed to be a help/information forum. Instead people like Section8 and Chris use it to antagonize people. 'FAIL'!!! Really??? What kind of help is that?? 'Go Use Something Else'!! Like what?? How about providing a link to something else? Or a suggestion with some steps (See Brian's post) on how to solve the issue?

If you choose not to help, then move along. Go back to playing WOW, just don't have a temper tantrum when your mom shuts off your account.... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i5tWT6I1GvY&feature=related

I know this is an old thread but I just came across. Reading through the thread and seeing comments about how iTunes is broken and how come Apple hasn't fixed the problem really annoyed me. I want to explain to anyone who may come across this that there is a reason Apple saves older versions of apps in the iTunes folder. So before you consolidate your library think about this. How many times have you updated one of your favorite apps and were disappointed in what the developer did and you found yourself wishing you could go back to the older version? Since Apple decided to store older versions along with the newer version of an app in your folder, they actually made it very simple for you to be able to do that. It's a simple as deleting the app from your device, then deleting the new version in the mobile applications folder and then dragging the version you want into iTunes. So before you go ahead and free up some disc space by consolidating the library make sure you are happy with the versions of the apps that you are using, because once you consolidate there's no way to get the older versions back.
