My iTunes Mobile Applications folder is full of old versions
2008 Mac Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)
Most users are expected to do that?
I know this is an old thread but I just came across. Reading through the thread and seeing comments about how iTunes is broken and how come Apple hasn't fixed the problem really annoyed me. I want to explain to anyone who may come across this that there is a reason Apple saves older versions of apps in the iTunes folder. So before you consolidate your library think about this. How many times have you updated one of your favorite apps and were disappointed in what the developer did and you found yourself wishing you could go back to the older version? Since Apple decided to store older versions along with the newer version of an app in your folder, they actually made it very simple for you to be able to do that. It's a simple as deleting the app from your device, then deleting the new version in the mobile applications folder and then dragging the version you want into iTunes. So before you go ahead and free up some disc space by consolidating the library make sure you are happy with the versions of the apps that you are using, because once you consolidate there's no way to get the older versions back.
