Menlo font has taken over my computer!!!!

The new Menlo font has introduced a problem on my Mac. In all applications, whenever I type an apostrophe on the keyboard, the system inserts an apostrophe in the Menlo font and I canʻt change it to any other font. In documents I create, when viewed on other Macs, only a blank space is shown.

Before I delete this font, does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?

PowerMac Pro (Quad-core), Mac OS X (10.6.2), 6 Gb RAM, 501 Gb disk space available on boot volume

That is very strange, an apostrophe should always be seen. Send me a TextEdit document that has this problem (tom at bluesky dot org) and also make some apostrophe's in your email.
