aggregate device with two interfaces?

I have two Mackie onyx interfaces and am trying to hook up both, apparently you can daisy chain but it seems to want me to choose one or the other.
any help welcome
thanks

This is a little more complicated I think, do I need to use a coaxial 75 ohm cable from one interface to another? do I need two coaxial cables going in and out, which one should be on "word clock"?
Is it ok to use firewire 800 from the Imac into 400 on the interface then daisy chain 400 to the other slave device?
Both the interfaces show up in logic Preferences-audio-devices but only can be chosen at the moment one at a time (no aggregate available)
In audio midi set up they also both show but there is no option to aggregate.
so far nobody nows?
is there anyone out there who know?

Audio MIDI Setup has a little "+" sign in the audio devices window.

If you're on 10.5, have you tried clicking on the word "Help" in the menu bar at the top of the screen when you've got Audio MIDI Setup open? It's a menu! Type "aggregate" into the little text field for some magic.

Regarding the Firewire issue, there have been at least three threads within the past week covering daisy-chaining issues (or rather, the lack thereof) in depth, one of which with a rather lengthy contribution by the guy who ought to be awfully busy writing code for the Metric Halo series of interfaces but spent twenty minutes writing up a long technical explanation for info the thread starter could have gleaned from thirty seconds of googling.

Regarding clocking: What does the Onyx user manual have to say on the subject?
