Can I power on clients using Apple Remote Desktop?

Hello,

In our environment we are running Apple Remote Desktop 3.3.2. I seem to not be able to wake up my labs of Imacs from a shutdown state. If I choose STARTUP the task fails in ARD. If I select wake on lan I receive a message requires lights out management.

All my labs are on the same subnet, that the ARD Administrator is on.

Why can't I wake up my Imacs from a shutdown state?. What am I doing wrong.

PS:I do not want to leave my Imacs in a sleep state.

Imac, Mac OS X (10.5.6)

Expanding on what Templeton said, only the Intel-based Xserves can be started remotely from a powered-off state ("lights on management"). No other Mac has remote-power capability except via the cumbersome and unreliable method of having a remotely-controllable power strip and setting the computers to restart automatically on power restoration.

As Templeton said, if you don't want to leave your Macs sleeping, you'll have to power them up manually.

Regards.
