Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 11) in 15" macbook pro i7 on Vista x64 not working

I solved this on my laptop just now, but not quite sure how.

I uninstalled the driver, and clicked the checkbox when uninstalling the driver to delete the files.

Then, after rebooting, it worked. I suspect it worked because I had earlier installed other drivers, which it then defaulted to. I installed the realtek audio drivers off the Mac OS X cd, but I suspect that wasn't it.

I installed cirrus logic drivers from here:

Or maybe it was the vista drivers I got from:

Or maybe these two sources drivers' are the same - and I did just get it from the cirrus site 🙂

If you get it working, I recommend you reply here and state exactly what it was that got it working for you. Just make sure to uninstall the driver and in doing so delete the files too (there's a checkbox in vista). This way it will default to what appears to be older drivers if/when you install those.

Well, I'm really not sure what I did and what it was that got it working. To try and help you solve the problem, here is a screenshot of my drivers information so that you can compare and will know if you're running the same as me. As to where to find the ones I have, I do not know. Another option is perhaps windows vista found them for me. Note that mine say "AB 13", while your subject line says "AB 11".

That may be, but it doesn't mean that the driver I have found doesn't have an appropriate 64bit version that will work as well.

Have you tried uninstalling (and deleting) the drivers so that upon reboot windows doesn't install any cirrus driver - and then go into device manager, update driver, and let vista search the net? Perhaps that will find the driver you need.

okie,I solved this finally
1)Download the driver from the sound chip official website
2)uninstall the driver which come from MAC OS X DVD and install the latest one you downloaded from sound chip official website
3)Update your windows vista 64 via Windows Update,
4)Install Vista SP1 & SP2

I'm using Vista x86 (32Bit) and I've tried all combinations and drivers found on the internet to no avail.

Vista is now at SP2 (updated automatically via Windows update) and I really do not understand why I'd have to uninstall everything just for a sound driver?!

I am using Windows Vista Ultimate 64BIT, so I don't have any information about x86 32BIT version but still have advise for you, try to install the SP1/SP2 not via on Windows update, just download a standalone SP1/SP2 installer and install them manually.

I was able to get this to work this weekend. Total PITA reinstall but at least I have sound now.

1)Reinstall Vista 64 Ultimate via Bootcamp
2)Run Bootcamp from the Apple DVD (I still didn't have sound so I decided to just go ahead and run all the Vista updates).
3)Download SP1 from the Microsoft website (I did this b/c Windows update kept failing on me with one of the initial updates on the previous install).
4)After the first reboot I noticed that 'X' was removed from the sound icon.

Not sure if this was a fluke and certainly don't want anyone to do an install to not have it work but it was a new install for me so I didn't have anything to lose.

I am installing Windows XP x64 on my new 27" iMac with a Cirrus Logic CS4206A (AB 24) sound chip. THe driver install will not allow me to load the 64-bit driver that came on my install disk. It reports "

You may not have read or checked but Apple does not list XP 64-bit as supported; has never provided drivers for it. A few have on their own but today... with Windows 7 out and ready... go that route instead.
