Ipod is playing but I hear no sound and the track clock doesn't change.

I push play, hear no sound, and track clock does not change. Is resetting my only option?

Hello rustystring,
And welcome to Apple Discussions!

Well, it isn't your only option, but is definitely your first step in terms of resolving the issue.

Why wouldn't you want to reset it?

And if a reset doesn't help, your next step would be to restore it via iTunes.

First do a reset on the iPod which should get it out of that mode.

My experience with this bug is that happens when you turn on the iPod, plug in the headphones THEN play a song. Something about plugging in the headphones first glitches the iPod. I haven't had it happen to me in a long time because I have got into the habit of starting the track first THEN plugging in the headphone plug after.
