Why do the newest MBP's not have Express Card slots. My problem is that if I need to go to At&T to get a new aircard I will not be grndafthered into the unlimited data plan as as I have been. I will be put on a 5 gig per month plan. Any way around this? An express card usb adapter perhaps?

Unfortunately this a user-to-user discussion forum so none of us here know why Apple decided to remove this feature. The ExpressCard/34 was actually removed in the June '09 revision of the machine so it's been missing for almost a year.
There are USB 3G adapters out there. Which if any are AT&T & Mac compatible I don't know, but that's what I'd search for.
Mind you, USB slows down with additional USB devices are hooked up beyond one. The other option is if your phone has bluetooth based internet sharing known as tethering. Find out from your phone's manufacturer if that feature is supported. The 17" MacBook Pro still has Express/34 slots. Just the 15" and 13" haven't since June 8, 2009.
I think the original poster is trying to avoid replacing his existing aircard as AT&T will make him sign a new agreement if he gets a new USB version effectively cancelling his truly unlimited data plan (in exchange for a 5GB cap).
There are express card to USB adapters. You would have to look around for something Mac compatible (or contact the manufacturer) as it is likely these would require drivers. This is just an example... It appears to be Mac compatible:
