Cost to repair damaged screen

Does anyone know the cost charged by Apple to repair an iPad if the screen is damaged from a fall or similar cause? I guess this damage could either be cracked glass or damaged LCD panel.

I did a search of this forum but couldn't find anything. I tried to submit a request to Apple, but the form required a serial number from the iPad, which I don't yet own. I also looked at the manual. I apologize if I missed something.

I have been reading about third-party insurance which does cover this sort of damage, and I may get that. But I wanted to get some idea of the repair cost first.

Thanks for the help.

Apple doesn't offer a menu of repair services for out of warranty or not covered under the warranty repairs with the iPad, except for replacing the battery if needed or wanted for an iPad that is no longer under warranty.

Apple offers a single "repair" price, which pays for an exchange.
