changing wep key to wap/wap2 key on wifi

Log in to your router's configuration page ( http://192.168.1.1) then follow the WPA instructions:

After you've set your router you'll need to enter the info including the WPA password you created in the wireless setup of your iPad

I tried that (with the help of an Apple technician) but my iPad is still falling out of its wi-fi connection.

Ah, that's a different story then. You have plenty of company, although to be fair it appears most iPads are working fine, but the WiFi problems are real for some folks. The "fixes" are being discussed on multiple threads here. Have a look around. You might start reading the various threads starting at the end and work your way backward as some recent fixes and work-arounds are probably more current than when it all started earlier this month.

What is the exact Model and Rev number of your Airlink router? Also, if you can give me the FCCID off your router, that would let me look up its wireless chipset. Finally, what firmware version are you using on your Airlink router?

If your brightness is turned all the way down just turn it up till there is some blue showing and that should do it.
