locating lost iPhone's etc.

Are there any apps available to find a phone, etc. without the uses of a SIM card? (For example, "lojack" or "OnStar") Because of the investment in these products, loosing one is not fun nor is replacing one? When others do not return them, they create a market that is not lawful. Thanks

Based on the info included with this link in regards to the iHound App, having the SIM card inserted is not required.

https://www.ihoundsoftware.com/

iHound® Software is a revolutionary product that can help you find and recover a lost or stolen iPhone and/ *or iPod Touch*. *iHound uses the GPS and WIFI signal built into your device to determine its location.*

The iPod Touch does not have a SIM card, and it isn't required to have a SIM card inserted in an iPhone for wi-fi access and/or for GPS access. The iPhone includes a dedicated GSM receiver.
