Custom Build Turnaround Time?

Ordered late Wednesday evening (6:15 or so PST), and have only received an "order acknowledged" notification via e-mail(whatever that means).

Says estimated delivery will be between today and the 6th of May, but I was curious if anyone had any insight on how long it usually takes for a BTO to get to the shipping stage? I have a 2-3 day shipping, so once it's on a truck, I've got a good idea of when to expect it, but not really sure when they're planning on putting it on said truck.

Thanks for your insight.

Your machine will be shipped from Shanghai, and delivery times are variable depending on many factors. Be patient. It will get there.

I appreciate your words of encouragement, but, again, the shipping time really wasn't what I was wondering about. It was more the overall custom build time.

My curiosity more stems from the fact that this system was purchased with a student discount (which I'm fully qualified for), but worried that it is tying up the process unnecessarily.

Custom build time varies too, depending upon the availability of parts and other factors known only to Apple. Student pricing probably isn't among them. Be patient. It will get there.

i ordered mine (MBP i5 15", AGS) on Tuesday night and i just received a shipping notice today. Delivery date appears to be May 5.

I've had pretty mixed results with BTO machines I've purchased in the past month. I've had some machines that arrive within 72 hours and others that have taken over a week. You'll get another email once the unit has been shipped and with that tracking # can then gauge delivery.

The last 17" MBP I ordered (on Monday) still has not shipped from China but I ordered 2, i7 15" units on Tuesday and both are scheduled for delivery today and had longer lead times when originally ordered.

You're doing better than me. Ordered my BTO from Vancouver, Canada Tuesday, April 20th, 10:00 AM Pacific and in my order acknowledgement it says "ships in 5-7 business days", "delivers May 6-12". So it's a week to build/procure it then 2-3 days to ship it with expedited shipping. Needless to say, the anticipation factor is waaaay up there... (-:

Well, I'm just glad that I wasn't the only one struggling with this shipping. I purchased a 13" Macbook Pro, basic configuration with iWork installed. My delivery status changed from receiving it Friday to Monday. This is a bummer since I was going home for the weekend and excited to open the package (not to mention that my brother bought an iPod Touch within the same cart as my MBP and his came in two days ago). Oh well, I just have to be patient. =/
