I just set up my 3G IPad, activated it through ITunes and all went well. Signed up with AT&T, they activated my account, all went well. Then, not so well. I have no cellular connectivity. ATT says I have an account, but the rest of the machine doesn't thank so. So, dear reader, do I have an IPad problem (probably not) or an ATT problem (that's my guess)? I may be the first from the Boston area to post this problem; I wonder if I will be the last? Is there a delay in ATT activating the account for general access?

Much thanks.

I'm having the exact same problem: signed up w/ ATT; received alert saying it was setup; now no connectivity according to the apps

Same problem in Michigan on ipad 3G. ATT signup worked. They have charged my credit card. However, connection to ATT keeps saying "connection to server was lost".

I had the same error and found that reseting my network settings fixed the problem. Go to settings/general/reset/ reset network settings. The iPad will reboot and 3g should start to work. If you want to call AT&T their # is 800-331-0500. I spent quite a while with them thinking that the problem was on their end. They were nice but not at all helpful.

I had the same problem. Following the above advice - i.e. resetting network settings - fixed it. Thanks acuartero

Thanks samfoto. You're my new best friend. I had been having the same problem all weekend. I've used the reset option and my connectivity is now on. Thanks for taking the time to post.

One question, in case anyone knows... I see the icon at the top of the iPad screen when it's connected via WiFi. When I cam connected via 3G, though, I don't see an icon. It does seem like the default is for the iPad to seek a WiFi network -- that takes precedence over connecting via 3G. Is this correct? Thanks again.

I reset network & have 3G access. However, now "view account" does not work. It just clocks & gives up--no message. Anyone seen this?
    Thx!

This fix did not work for me. I set my ATT account up in Boston and it worked fine, I returned home to Indiana where I can see the AT&T logo but not the 3G logo. I called AT&T and they had me reset but other than creating a case number, could not offer any additional help. I know there is 3G service in the area because I see it and use it on my phone. Is this an Apple issue or AT&T? If it is Apple, how do I get it resolved?

I ended up contacting ATT&T and after 24 hours they called back and said the sim card was bad. They replaced the sim card and it fixed the issue.
