What does a Macbook serial number look like?

Hi people.

My macbook got stolen and I'm trying to find my serial number. It will make the search a lot easier if I actually know what I'm looking for! It's from around March 2008, it's a 13" Z0FJ model.

How many digits should the SN be, and is it numbers and letters, in any particular order? Should it begin with a specific digit?

Might it begin W8515####? That's my 'order number', but this blog here ( http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=173) seems to suggest that macbook serials should be 9 digits and might start with a 'W'.

All I have is my order emails, I think. I may have found the macbook posted on an online classifieds site, so really need to be able to prove it's mine!

Cheers for any help anyone can offer

Sorry, but an order number is not the same as your MacBook's serial number. It's strictly coincidence that web orders and the serial numbers for some products both start with the latter "W".

If you don't have paperwork, such as an AppleCare confirmation, that shows the serial number, you may be able to get it by calling the Apple Store and giving them your order number.

Regards.
