how to change default pic in email account?

i noticed that when i send emails on my ipad there is a little picture in the upper right hand corner of every email i send. sort of like an account ID picture type thing that one has on their individual accounts on their computers. but the thing is, i never picked out this picture or was asked. it's not even on my ipad. it's a picture of a friend of mine and the only place it exists is on my iphone and i havent even synced the pictures yet to the ipad. i need to change is ASAP as it looks really unprofessional (it's a silly picture) but i can't figure out how. any ideas? thanks!

The photo is not sent with the message. The Mail.app on a Mac includes the same - the photo for contact info in the Address Book. If a message is sent to a recipient using the Mail.app on a Mac or using an iPad, the recipient's chosen photo for your contact info in their address book is shown with the received message, and the same in reverse on your iPhone.

Are you saying you have no contact info in your iPad's address book? If not, is your contact info available in your iPad's address book? If so, do you have a photo selected for your contact info?

In your address book you need to select your card, it is under the Card menu and says "Make This My Card." In your address card there is a place for a photo. Your photo will show on all outbound email from your mail account. The sender's photo will show if you have an address and photo for them. You probably have not assigned the correct card in your Address Book. Please note that this is done on your Mac, not the iPad and will be synced to the iPad through iTunes.
