iPad 3g won't reconnect to WiFi Router

I have had the 3g since friday morning (4-30) and 3g works great but every time I pick up my iPad I have to manually reconnect to my wireless router and enter the key. I have two iphone 3g's, iPad Wifi, macbook pro, mac mini and other devices on this network and no other device has issues. How is it that my wife's iPad Wifi works fine but my iPad 3g makes me manually reconnect every time? I have a Linksys 310N running DDWRT with SSID not broadcasting. I also have a bridged Linksys 160N for coverage. The quality of the network is pretty good and reliable but I figured I would list just in case someone wants to say its my cheap network which it isn't. I can't get over the fact the iPad Wifi works and my iPad 3g doesn't. Anyone have a suggestion?

I turned SSID broadcast on and the problem appears to have gone away. I hit the power button on the iPad 3g waited a few minutes and then turned it back on. This time it was still connected but if I turn off SSID broadcast it would have been back to 3g. I would like to keep it off but once again why would the iPad Wifi have no problem reconnecting but the iPad 3g won't?

I had a WiFi iPad that worked totally fine on my wireless network, but the 3G/WiFi iPad has been giving me issues. I can connect, but it just doesn't seem to stay connected with the same consistency of the WiFi version.

I really hope all of this is a software issue that can be corrected via that and not a hardware issue. It's working ok for now, but the 3G iPad has been nowhere near as "trouble free" as my WiFi iPad was.

My 3G iPad has a similar issue except it won't connect at all! I had the WiFi only version of the iPad and it connected to the Motorola router (the wireless G type distributed by Time/Warner for it's RoadRunner customers) just fine. SSID is on but it's locked down to MAC addressing. Any time I'd go near my brother's house, it would pick up and use the wifi perfectly.

I've just upgraded to the 3G version and now it won't connect. I'm told that the password is incorrect!? This thing is locked by T/W, so options are limited - but WEP 128 bit is the only option that it will allow to work. I've entered the key in letters, I've entered it in hex - nothing works.

Is it WEP that it doesn't like? Is it the G protocol? It connect just fine to my Airport Extreme, so I'm baffled.

My 3G iPad has the same problem. In the middle of browsing the web or the App store it'll ask me to re-enter the wireless password. Or it'll say "incorrect password". But if I do a full shutdown of the iPad and turn it back on it will see the network just fine. But it "forgets the password" many times a day and can do it multiple times during a browsing session.

Here at home we have three Macs, two PCs, wireless printers, iPhone, iPod Touch, etc. and none of them have this issue.

We're using the 2wire wireless modem that AT&T provides to us and we're using the WEP that it comes with.

Unfortunately I have the same connect issues to wifi with my iPad 3G. At home I get the constant re-type your password scenario and at work I get the cryptic message I just can't connect. My 64gig touch connects and reconnects without issues. Here is another related issue to add to the list...bluetooth with the apple keyboard seemingly has the same problems. There are no error messages, but after typing half a sentence, the iPad loses connection for about ten to 15 seconds and then reconnects for another couple of letters. The keyboard works great with my Bluetooth laptop (and has been for over a month) so I can only conclude the iPad has got some radio issues with bluetooth and wifi. Is this a software issue or is it time to take it back?

Uk iPad user here-

I had a 16gb wi fi, and it didn't skip a beat, gave it to a friend and got a 32gb 3G model,

Disconnects randomly from my net gear G router, fiddled around with all the settings and still does it,

So I replaced my router with a belkin N (been meaning to anyway), my connection speed on my laptop and iPad has shot up, but it still randomly goes to 2bars wi fi- despite being 5feet away! And drops out and then seems to reconnect ok.....odd,

J.

Have you updated your iPad OS to level 3.2.1 (now 3.2.2)? This update corrected a number of issues some were having with WiFi. If you have already done this then "what to do" would include providing a lot more information on your router, router configuration, etc., so that your problem can be analyzed.

FYI, this thread is pretty old originating back on May 2nd and it hasn't had a post for over a month which was before the 3.2.1 release was made (7/15/2010).

Well the problem certainly hasn't gone away.

I have 2 ipads in the house.
One of them has no problems with the wifi at all and works flawlessly. This is a 16GB wifi version.

The 64GB 3G ipad only seems to cope with connecting with 2 out of 3 of the wifi networks I regularly use.

Basically, If I connect it at work then It will no longer connect when I get home (the ususal incorrect password problem).
In this case I have to reset the networks settings on the ipad and re-enter all my network passwords before it will connect. Once the network settings are deleted I can connect to my home network again.. at least until I go to work the next day.

Both are on the latest firmware/OS

The reason the posts have slowed is that people have found this (irritating) workaround and are no longer 'completely' screwed.

The fact that my Ipad can connect fine to any of these networks after a settings reset AND that the older ipad has no problems suggests that my network is not the problem... the ipad or its network management software simply has a major problem. I'm surprised we haven't seen a fix yet (though we still haven't seen a fix for iphone3G on iOS4 yet so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised).
