May 28, 2010 1:38 PM in response to djanthonywby [Tee]derDoc[DMC],Well guys,
I don't wanna ruin your guy's day but I have had 2 freezes and my machine is not from factory W8. My serial starts with C02CN..
As for the battery, an amperage of 508 does sound kinda low. Mine shows 3865.
If the battery shows a negative value somewhere that might just mean that it is draining and not charging at the moment, was that the case?
Positive value on the other hand just means that it is charging.
I'll try running the diagnostics now when holding down D maybe something comes up. -
May 28, 2010 1:47 PM in response to djanthonywby Appelflap,I still is possible that it is hardware failure, most people report it is stable for the first day(s), then it starts to act up.
I had no issue's at first, then it began, even a fresh install acted up right after the first boot.
Let's hope it is software... however i doubt it.
It took apple 1,5 years to finaly acknowledge hardware issue's on the 2007 models..... -
May 28, 2010 1:49 PM in response to [Tee]derDoc[DMC]by Appelflap,[Tee]derDoc[DMC], how long did it take for you to get the freezes? days, weeks? -
May 28, 2010 2:04 PM in response to Appelflapby califfo1975,without speculating (as I told some posts before we try to encourage / support mutually in the wait of 10.6.4 or of an EFI / firmware update) I am not sure that a hw problem would be so random, what might be indeed typical of a s/w one. But you might be fully right, though we might spend days to try to understand if it is hw or s/w. I do not understand the silent apple position (it would be better to recognize a s/w sh**ty bug than allowing people speculate about hw problem that might make other think about the opportunity to buy this new series MBP) in the meantime. -
May 28, 2010 4:12 PM in response to califfo1975by Appelflap,In reply to the software part, my 17" MBP has Finder version 10.6.5
10.6.4 is the current version of all other macs with the latest updates.
For the persons out there with the freezes, do you also have Finder version 10.6.5?? -
May 29, 2010 12:34 AM in response to Appelflapby califfo1975,I do have 10.6.5 finder version and as told before 1 freeze only up to date (I remind you that I have W80181xxxxx, gmux 1.9.21 and rom 3541).
As you can see the randomness is not negligible....
Cheers -

May 29, 2010 3:06 AM in response to wconeby nasi_bln,Hey!
I'm new here and have got the same problems with freezing system. It began a couple of days after I received the MBP.
I ordered it 16th April, it was shipped 24th April and delivered 4th May. It is a MBP 13" CTO with 2.4GHz C2D, 4GB RAM and 320GB HDD @ 5400rpm. Serialnumber is W80172xxxxx. ROM-Versions and stuff like this I can't tell you actually because I brought the MBP to an Apple Premium Reseller (we have no real Apple Store here =/ ) last week and they are still searching for the problem! The guy told me that they can reproduce the freeze when running a slide-show with iPhoto. I never run a slideshow but had the freezes sometimes when I used iPhoto - but sometimes also without iPhoto started. Mostly ran Safari or Opera, Skype, iChat and/or iPhoto when the system freezed. Nothing special so far. -
May 29, 2010 5:51 AM in response to Artitronby eyalbs,Just had my first freeze (after 2 weeks of use).

May 29, 2010 10:43 AM in response to Artitronby Maconde,I have had freezes on my 15 i5, only on windows7 ...
I also have the USB drivers warning - which has not been solved.
I updated my Nvidia video driver - had to do it manually -to 8.17.11.9716
Haven't had a freeze so far.
But did a windows reporting .."NVIDIA Graphics Driver has stopped working properly."
I received a list showing Video hardware error with exactly same dates as when machine freezed!! -
May 29, 2010 11:39 AM in response to Artitronby paulmayne,I have had my Macbook Pro i7 for 2 months and it's froze up 4 times now. I wait 5 minutes then force the machine off. I've lost work because of this and hope Apple is paying attention. ***** that those who pay a premium for the latest Apple gear are the ones the suffer with the bugs. -
May 29, 2010 11:42 AM in response to Appelflapby [Tee]derDoc[DMC],About 2 weeks after I got it.
And I also have Finder version 10.6.5 for those who are interested.
But haven't had anymore since I been running on Intel only. -

May 29, 2010 1:05 PM in response to Macondeby baseliner,@Maconde: you seem to have reported what appears to me to be the closest thing to a real fix. But was this driver download for Win7? -
May 29, 2010 1:22 PM in response to baselinerby Maconde,to baseliner:
Yes, I did download driver directly from Nvidia and installed in Windows.
I haven't really used the MAC OS much .... but I have used it, including videos, and haven't had a freeze on MAC OS.
