Q: MacBook Pro (2010) Freeze

Anyone else with the new i7 MBP experiencing a hard freeze? No Grey Screen of Death, just freezing screen and input. Only remedy is to hold the power button to cycle the power.

It has frozen twice in the last week. Both times the machine was on battery power and certainly not under load - just light browsing, no gaming.

Just curious if this is going to be a longer term problem...

From what I understand "resolves an issue that causes the keyboard or trackpad to become unresponsive" is what this thread is about.

I mentioned a few times that my issue only happened at logon. I could move my mouse pointer around but I couldn't input anything. So far since installing 10.6.4 (including the betas) and rearranging my USB devices so that I could get rid of an unpowered hub, I haven't experienced my logon freeze again. Hopefully these two things fixed the issue for me.

The pointer was movable, but no input could be applied.

if it was just the mouse then why wouldn't the machine go to sleep when some of us close it??? the machine stays awake.
hopefully this does fix the problem because many of use spent a crap load of money on our machines and this is not right.
also, why does the problem seem to go away when some people turn the graphics switching off??

I'm really not sure, I'm just speaking from my own experience with my MBP. I disabled AGS from the start.

Only if that actually makes the screen freeze too, which is what at least some of us have seen (the seconds on the clock stopped while the machine was fully responsive when logging in with SSH).
