How to get rid of duplicates?

How do I get rid of duplicates in my iTunes? I recently moved my music back to my computer after a hard drive failure from an external hard drive. When it all got back in, I had two or three duplicates. I've tried everything I can think of...any quick, harmless ways?

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.3)

Theres no real way to quickly delete duplicates, but you can quickly view your duplicates by going to (I THINK) iTunes->Show Duplicates. I have a PC so for me it's File->Duplicates but regardless, it's in the top toolbar for you somewhere.

Once you are seeing your duplicates, sort by artist, and I'd say just hold control and select every other file (so one of each duplicate) until one of each is selected for all of them and then delete as usual. It's not the fastest but it's the easiest way I can think of. Maybe someone else has a better idea?

How to find and remove duplicate items in your iTunes library - [http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2905]

Also check for free duplicate handling scripts in Dougscripts.

Always check a duplicate before deleting. I find a significant number of my duplicates are two versions of a song by an artist (e.g., live and studio recordings, songs appearing on multiple albums) and aren't really duplicates.
