Audio in iPad presentations?

I read that the iPad version of Keynote can't use audio embedded in a slide. Is there any way to play specific audio during a specific slide, even if I have to click on a sound object? It won't let me add an audio object using the iPad, but is there any way to add it using the desktop version for playback on the iPad?

One way to do this is create a movie with iMovie and put the audio as a soundtrack. Then embed the movie into the keynote presentation. I don't have an iPad yet, but guessing from the fact that video is supported, this should be possible.

Also, if you can resize the video small - then you can play a 'black screen' for a bit or if you prefer, drop in a still image for the video portion.

Hope this helps.

I am not aware of any audio or video insertion capability in iPad Keynote.

I tried it and you can play iPod audio while you run a Keynote slideshow. The issue is synchronization. You could even try to go from track to track with your iPod ear buds if they have the control on the cable. The wireless keyboard has media playback controls.

You can record a Keynote presentation on the Mac that includes audio and video. Use the share -> export menu selection in Mac Keynote. Once imported as a video it will play with its sound track and imbedded video.

Again, I don't believe the iPad can imbed anything but pictures. Its idea of media is photos. Let us know if you find more approaches.

I read that video in a presentation made on a mac and transferred to an ipad plays back, but audio files don't. I didn't mean 'create' audio or video in the app. I was talking about making the keynote presentation on a mac first, then transferring it. You'd have to remember to embed the video in the presentation too. Keynote usually just puts in a pointer to it.

Anyone know if audio playback got fixed in v1.1?

I would think that this would be a great help.

I did it!!!

Must be "out of prison" though, and this is for making them, not viewing them..

•Find song and download on Mxtube.
•Find private/var/mobile/Media and copy file from MxTube to Camera Roll (click on the blue arrow of the file and select "move to camera roll" on iFile)
•Import video from Camera Roll to keynote presentation and make smallest size, then send it to back/make opacity 0%, and set to AutoPlay. yay yay yay Any questions, just ask me

I don't know if this helps, but I recently downloaded Keynote onto my iPod Touch (4th generation) and copied an old presentaion that I made with Keynote for Mac onto it. It had audio in the last slide, and I was able to play it back in editing mode and it played fine in presenter mode too. However, on my iPod, the only editing I can do is making the track loop or not. The advanced editing (i.e. where to start and stop the music, when it starts playing on the slide, etc.) are not available on the iPod, and I assume the same goes for the iPad as well.

So, if you make a presentation in Keynote for Mac that has audio, and then transfer it to your iPod/iPhone/iPad, you can hear it and it plays in both presenter and editing mode. Hope this helps.

You can record audio over presentations using the whiteboard apps Explain Everything (my favorite) or Educreations. Both let you incorporate presentation files of various formats, use the whiteboard features to annotate slides as you give the presentation, and record audio as you go. They can then be saved as presentations within the apps, or they can be saved as movie files.

Crikey! 3 years on and Apple still can't find a way to add a voiceover to Keynote. For all those who say create it on the Mac first and then show it on the iPad - doesn't this just add credence to those who say the iPad is all about consumtpion and not creation? I want my students to add voiceovers to their presentations - I guess I'll just use iMovie instead...or look for something non-Apple that might do something that does the job much better.
