Itunes Error 2230 when trying to remove the program from windows??

I am having issues with itunes when I try to open it it says: wait while windows configures itunes then I get this message:An error ocurred while attempting to create the directory:C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\nb.Iproj\DevicePrefsAdvanced.nib then a box appears and says retry or cancel. I tried to remove it and I get an error 2230 so cannot remove it and tried to reinstalling it and cannot do it either. I am going crazy here and cannot figure out whats wrong. Everything was doing great and one day I just got that message. I have Mcaffe as antivirus and spybot and check those too and cannot see anything that has been blocked to stop functioning or anything. Can anybody help please??

An error ocurred while attempting to create the directory:C:\Program Files\iTunes\iTunes.Resources\nb.Iproj\DevicePrefsAdvanced.nib then a box appears and says retry or cancel. I tried to remove it and I get an error 2230 so cannot remove it and tried to reinstalling it and cannot do it either.

That's consistent with file/disk damage, ao.

Let's first try running a chkdsk over your C drive. There's instructions and a guided help in the following Microsoft document:

[How to perform disk error checking in Windows XP|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315265]

Does the chkdsk find/repair any damage? If so, try launching iTunes again after the chkdsk. Does the repair install of iTunes (the "Configuring" message you've been seeing when launching iTunes) go through properly this time?

WOW!!! This worked like a charm and now I am able to open itunes and was able to sync my iphone with no problems. Thank you, thank you, thank you for taking the time to respond to this need. The only thing is that now every so often I get a box that pops up that says: Iternet Explorer Script Error
Error: this cells[...].data' is null or not an object and it reads at bottom: Do you want to continue running scripts out this page yes no so I go ahead and x out or hit no. Im I doing it right will this script error eventually go away??
Let me know thanks.

No I am not doing anything it just pops up randomly, so I just x out or click where it says if I want to keep running scripts on the page I say no and it goes away. It really does not bother that much, I can handle just exiting out every time it pos up, I just thought that maybe there is something that can be done so it does not pop up anymore. But if not is ok I can just x out. Thanks again for your help.

Hmmmm. My guess here is that one of the background processes for your iTunes that requires access to the Internet is being interfered with:

[iTunes for Windows: Background processes installed on Windows XP, Vista, and 7|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3960]

... In which case the link to the article on troubleshooting security software issues in there might be of assistance. However, that's intuition speaking, rather than knowledge. If anyone has focussed advice for ao on this particular error message, please feel free to leap in and save him/her from me.

Well I want to thank you again, I found out what the problem was with the internet script error. I have weather.com on my desktop and as it turns out it was creating a script error so what I did was reinstalled the weather.com desktop and the script error went away, it no longer shows up at all. All is well now and enjoying my itunes and all.
I really apreciate you taking the time in responding to my post.
