Ok, so I bit the bullet n bought an iPhone. I upgraded to 3.1.3 and got stuck in recovery mode for what seemed like for ever but through these helpful pages i fixed it.

Now the other day my iphone froze, so i did a hard reset and got the white apple logo of death. Back here I came and put the phone into DFU, connected to itunes and was prompted to restore. Hallelujah i thought...but no. It is now stuck halfway through the restore process, the iphone screen is displaying the W.A.L.D. with a progress bar that doesn't move (and hasn't for 4 hours now) and itunes still says "waiting for iphone"

any ideas??

A hang during the restore process can indicate trouble with security software.

In the course of your troubleshooting to date, have you worked through the following document?

I gave it a shot but i'm still having the same problem. Occasionally through the process, the iphone would give me the "connect to itunes" logo instead of just the apple logo, but it didn't help any. I tried to use iRecover a couple of times while i had the itunes logo but I'm still stuck
