My Ipad does not start!

I bought my iPad a week ago in NYC. They have registred it in the store. Till yesterday everything worked fine, then when I tried to turned it on today the iTunes logo appeared, so I conected it to the computer and got the err msg:

"iTunes could not connect to the Ipad becuase it is locked with a passcode. You must enter your passcode on the iPad before it can be used with iTunes."

The problem is I can not enter the pass, becuase the iPad does not respond.

Help please!

From apple support doc:
If you cannot remember the passcode, you will need to restore your device using the computer with which you last synced it. This allows you to reset your passcode and resync the data from the device (or restore from a backup). If you restore on a different computer that was never synced with the device, you will be able to unlock the device for use and remove the passcode, but your data will not be present. Refer to Updating and restoring iPhone and iPod touch software.

It sounds like you'll need to try out recovery mode, which should get the job done. Connect the iPad to the computer and then hold down both the sleep button and the home button until the screen goes black and then shows the connect to iTunes logo again. You should be in recovery mode at this point and able to restore your iPad. Be aware, this will erase your data from the iPad, but it will get you back up and running.
