Solved the problems SmartSleep was causing

Hello.
Some 3 weeks ago installed SmartSleep (recommended on MacWorld) and from the beginning didn't work.
Instead of waking up quickly, it showed some bars at the bottom of the screen and took ages.
Uninstalled.
Problems got worse. Whenever tried to put to sleep, black screen, randomly turning off and more.
Emailed it's creator. Not even an answer till today...
Googled forums and so. Did:
* Looked in login items in system preferences->accounts. Nothing there.
* Deleted smartsleep pref pane (/Library/Preference Panes/SmartSleep.prefPane)
* Erased from /Library/LaunchAgents and /Library/LaunchDaemons anything that had to do with SmartSleep.
* Erased from MyUsername~/Library/LaunchAgents and ~/Library/Launchdaemons anything that had to do with SmartSleep.
* Tried resetting the PRAM/NVRAM.
* Tried resetting System Management Controller (SMC)
* Tried deleting the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file (Finder/Hard drive/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration)
* Maybe did some more things.... 🙂
Nothing helped. Tried to find any trace of SmartSleep with Spotlight and there was nothing, visible or invisible, but the software (or the problems) still there.
Eventually I re-installed the software and this time, at least it "started behaving", I could change the preferences set up and It worked OK.
I tried to erase the software with AppCleaner and again it did not remove it completely and had problems again.
So, I just reinstalled again and try to leave with the fact that I won't be able to erase it (at least for now), maybe someone has a suggestion.
Besides, as I said, now it works just fine, I am just curious what happens/happened here.
