iMovie import to Garageband

Help!
There is a way to import video from iMovie into Garageband and get a thumb nail video to edit audio to.

Then you can import back to iMovie the finished track so Video and Audio sync up.

Any ideas Apple people?

First create your movie in iMovie.
Share your movie to the media browser or iTunes.

In GarageBand start a new real instrument project. Open the media browser and drag your movie into the timeline. Add audio tracks as needed.

When finished you can render the finished movie from GarageBand.
If you need to work further in iMovie export the GarageBand project as aiff.

Hello!

I have a follow on question from this because it still doesnt quite make sense to me.
I have successfully exported the imovie 09 project (with images) to Garageband. All I need to do is pan the audio to centre which Garageband 'seems' to have domne automatically for me by creating a 2 track.

Now I want to export the audio back to imovie and match it up with the pictures but your suggestion doesn't seem to allow for that. Does it synch automatically? I have made no deletions or additions to the audio timeline in Garageband.

Finally - and I must really seem like a doufus but Garageband only seems to be giving me the option to export the movie not the audio by itself so perhaps I have done something wrong anyway.....

Many thanks

First, you can do all the edits in iMovie. Then export to GB. Do all your sound edits. Then render the final movie from GB.

As a separate matter, you could export the audio only from the iMovie to GB. Do this by using SHARE/Export Using QuickTime as an audio only file using the AIFF codec.

Thirdly, if you have done the first option above, you can still render it from GB as an AIFF audio only file which can be used in iMovie.
